A Matter of Time

This is a piece of art was created with charcoal and chalk pastels on watercolor paper sizing around 16”x23” back in 2019. It was one of the first pieces I created for my senior portfolio in high school. I was creating a portfolio with a theme of reflections and water, how reflections play a role with everyday objects and experiences. In March 2020 I had the pleasure of being able to enter this piece of art in the K-12 Youth Art Month competition hosted by the Kansas Art Educators Association. However, due to covid, the event was completely online and I had won my first art competition completely virtually. I ended up with 1st place in the high school division and I was the overall grand champion.

A Matter of Time was my favorite piece that I created during my reflection study. I am so thankful for this opportunity and I continue to volunteer in the Y.A.M competition for kids in grades K-12 at the Topeka Public Library.
